According to this Sun-Times article citing Aramis' agent, he can choose to be a free agent even if the team exercises his option this year. Did I completely miss something, or is this new information? If that's really the case, then sayonara Aramis. I might have advocated exercising the option to control him for one more year, but if he has leverage to demand an extension, bye-bye.
