Good Sandberg piece
Not a lot of new ground, but it's well written and paints an interesting picture of Sandberg with the IronPigs.

OH GAWD NO....
The IronPigs pitcher records the third out and trudges to the dugout. Sandberg claps his hands. He scribbles on the lineup card and pops on a batting helmet. Two go-karts race around the field, another minor-league stunt. A cloud of dust drifts into the dugout.
There’s a spring in Sandberg’s step as he jogs to his spot as third-base coach. He looks to his batter, smacks his fists together and claps his hands. No time to dwell on the past. The IronPigs are down five, and Ryne Sandberg, the Hall-of-Famer-turned-bush-leaguer, has a game to manage.
As I've told you before, I never repeat myself.

ALRIGHT!!!!! just because he claps his hands and has to manage
3rd base does not mean he’s Mike Quade.
Guys, hitting is not about muscle. It's simple physics. Calculate the velocity, v, in relation to the trajectory, t, in which g, gravity, of course remains a constant.... It's not complicated. - George Costanza
I like this article.
As long as Jim Hendry is in charge of the Chicago Cubs, decisions such as this one will continue to haunt both the team and the fans.

I've wanted Hendry gone for years too but I'm hardly haunted by the fact that Ryno wasn't hired to
manage this horridly flawed team the GM put together.
I cringe of whether the Cubs are repeating history
recalling the Dodgers passing over Mike Scioscia and now in the same metro area the Angels have their best manager all time.
Sandburg needs to be hired here regardless of Hendry’s situation….even if it takes the Ricketts family going over Hendry’s head.

Not that Sandberg is any sort of miracle worker...
…. but I’m beginning to think it has to be done.

Well, it would do that.
But this article, plus Wittenmyer’s last week, at least tell me one thing about Sandberg that Quade does not have: leadership qualities.

Oh lord.
See, when you say things like this, I can’t help but remember how hard you were selling Quade in the offseason based on nothing more than articles exactly like this.

This assumes that Tom is willing to go over Hendry's head
If this were Steinbrenner we’re talking about, this would have happened. Hendry would have been gone already, but that’s a moot point.

If you disagree with me in any way, you are wrong.
Just wondering
But why do you insist on spelling his name incorrectly?

Nauseated
is how I feel every time I see a post like this.
Meatball Cubs fans. God bless ’em.

Yea thank god we picked quade
Lets piss off fans, alienate a cubs legend, and in doing so hire our college buddy who is way way way over his head!
So much is wrong with this statement
But … whatever blows your hair back.

Plenty wrong with yours
Because elgato did in no way, shape or form imply that Sandberg should be the manager. He posted a story about an ex-Cub, who still prompts discussion among fans.
But by all means, keep up with the strawmen and namecalling!

Never said eg did
But the posts here are pretty humorous, because they check all the meatball-fan boxes.

Alright. Can you see where it came across like you were saying that?

Well, I'm not trying to insult you

You're not trying to insult me?
Well, I’d say the law of unintended consequences is in full effect here.

You're an interesting poster
Within a minute of telling me that you don’t see how you replying DIRECTLY to the OP could be construed as commenting on what the original poster said (!), you’re telling me what my intent was because of how you interpreted it.
That is truly amazing.

You're addressing this directly to me
I wasn’t directly addressing my post to eg. That’s not exactly uncommon.

Ok.
And I wasn’t trying to insult, really. It was an attempt to use humor to illustrate a point.

Yeah, you know what?
It does come across as you’ve directed it to eg.
What “post like this” nauseates you? Pretty sure I’m not the only one that interpreted it that way. Just saying.

Bruce,
You and puckish should realize that no matter how much you descry these threads, updates on Sandberg will just continue to happen here. Might as well accept it.
And FWIW, this is coming from someone who wanted Girardi as manager after last year.
