This article gets an A+ from me.....
and it really emphasizes the need for good clubhouse guys and leadership to show the young guys how it’s done.
As we go forward with this rebuilding process, I think we need to look back on this article and remember guys like Kerry Wood, Byrd, Dempster and Soriano are just as important as Rudy, Dale and Theo. The next time someone says just eat the contract and get rid of him, remember each team needs veteran mentorship to guide these young guys into being a truly professional athlete.

A very good piece of writing and as Yogi said
something about 2/3 of the game being half mental, it holds very true.
Great article.
The commisioners office needs to offer him a position of some sort of some team needs to hire him if he’s interested.

Theo says
He is going to implement the “rookie development program” which they had in Boston. I think this is a terrific idea. I often wondered why teams didn’t do this, even before Boston set up the program (I think they were the 1st). I think it will help, not just those who do eventually make it to the majors, but the rest of the Cubs minor leaguers who don’t make it and have to transition to other areas of the workforce.

Excellent idea.
This is more important than most people would think.

Didn't Steve Stone
and some other guys have a program going in Spring Training a few years ago for young players like Castro, in an attempt to keep them from having this sort of problem? I seem to recall that guys like Jose Cruz Jr. benefitted from this sort of program when they were exceptionally young players with high upside who were besieged with all sorts of offers, good and bad.
At the time, I thought it was an excellent idea.

This is why I find it curious when people like Tebow are...
…made to be a figure of ridicule. We finally have someone that exemplifies decency and yet he’s made he’s made out to be a freak amongst some.
Yes parents are supposed to be role models for their children but to say it’s only the parents responsibility is to ignore how pervasive popular culture is to our children and how sports, music and tv influence our kids.
Guys, hitting is not about muscle. It's simple physics. Calculate the velocity, v, in relation to the trajectory, t, in which g, gravity, of course remains a constant.... It's not complicated. - George Costanza
