Cubs Convention Photos

I didn't take the photo at the top of this post -- that's an AP picture taken of Tom Ricketts at the opening ceremony of this weekend's Cubs Convention.

I did take some photos on Friday, including several of new arrivals to the team.

After the jump, a selection of these photos.

Geovany Soto

Matt Garza

Ian Stewart

Nice pics, how does Soto look this year?

If he ballooned up again this year, we’re screwed.

Actually, he looks like he's lost weight.

And, so does Carlos Marmol, which is even better news. Marmol looks in great shape.

I predict he’s going to have a great year.

Agreed, I thought from Spring Training on that he looked overweight.

And the kicker is nobody ever said anything about it, but that was the old way of doing things, not the Cubs way.

I dont think his weight matters

The Cubs are screwed no matter if he is over weight or not.

That's the spirit!

No one is saying a thin Soto means the Cubs win the WS… it is, however, more enjoyable to watch some good players on a bad team than a team full of bad players.

Whether or not the Cubs compete in 2012 shouldn’t change the fact that we should all hope Soto has a rebound year.

He’s probably the best follow on Twitter also. He replies to everyone. I’m really rooting for him to have a good year this year.

But being @ the convention this last week-end, did remind how lucky I have been I’ve seen the Badgers win multiple Rose Bowls and the Packers win multiple SB’s. I can only hope that some day I know what it feels like to have seen all three on my favorite teams be champs.
