Asleep? Maybe.

But, This Time, It Counts

10-25-2011. Theo Epstein joins the Cubs. Now, the fun begins.

This saga is becoming more drawn out and dramatic than the “Twilight” series.

Like that’s hard.

Forget all that other stuff. I gotta believe.

Certainly shorter than

the Charlie’s Angels rerack.

Just make it a draft pick and be done with it.

Since draft picks can not be traded

Bud is not going to set a precedent.

The 6 lottery picks for worst teams/smallest markets can actually be traded now.

So who knows what is possible anymore. I do agree that it wont be a draft pick though – opening a can of worms.

“It’s unclear how long Selig will take,” Wittenmyer writes.

So, in other words, it’s status quo.

Selig: That’s it! I’ve had it, I’m stepping in!

Boston and Chicago: Ok, so what is your decision?

Selig: GIVE ME A MINUTE!!!!

……….
Six months later…

Boston and Chicago: uh, Bud?

Selig: GIVE ME A MINUTE! GEEZ!!!!! GET OFF MY BACK ALREADY!!!!!

For some fans, Kerry Wood is that dollap of pumpkin paste.

Bud "Who had a really good fielding percentage

for the Cubs in the minors?"

Ben “Do we also get a guy with good RBI numbers?”

Bud “Certainly. One of both.”

Just give them a briefcase full of cash like they do in all the movies.

I wonder who you WOOD like it to be.

The best husband in the world is going to the 2012 Randy Hundley Cubs Fantasy camp!

Can't we just return Theo?

Did you remember the receipt? Drop him off at a local Dunkin Donuts? We still have the Jed & Jason show. I’m sure they took copious notes during staff meetings.

Give them...

A case of Old Style, a decision ball, and a autographed Eddie Vedder t-shirt (Theo can get that pretty easy I suppose).

How about....

….that cool 1950s Cub bullpen coat someone had the FanShot about? Seems suited for Boston weather….

"It's cold in April and nobody likes hard stuff in April. You go right after them and get in on their hands and get them unexpected, and it's a lot of fun." -- Matt Garza, 3/2011

I feel bad for Bud

Lucchino has floated names like Garza, Castro, B. Jackson. The expectations have been set pretty high. One side of this issue is almost guaranteed to angry, perhaps both.

I'm wet nurse to a last-place, dead-to-the-neck-up ball club, and I'm choking to death!
