Date for single-ticket sales?
Hey all - a friend in Boston wants to try and get tickets for the Red Sox series this summer, and asked me when the Cubs will start single-game ticket sales. I couldn't find any info on cubs.com or here....anyone have any advice?
And yes, she understands that they will NOT be easy tickets to get!
Many thanks in advance....and counting down the weeks to spring training....can't wait to have some games to listen to....

I'm going to piggy-back here
Since this thread will otherwise die.
Does anyone know if there’s a financial advantage to getting the 9-game ticket pack versus buying nine individual tickets? That is to say, do you get a price break that way, or is the “break” simply being able to buy tickets early, and to make sure you get a couple premium games?
That’s about the number of games I’d like to get to this year, so I’m trying to decide which is the best route to take, financially.
Bleacher Nation - Cubs Rumors and News
I tried it out to see the pricing
After I picked out the tickets and a seating area, all of the ticket prices and fees were displayed. The ticket prices in the 9-game plan are the same as the individual game prices. And then there are the taxes and fees – 2 lines listed as Service Charge.
Cost aside, you could put together a good set of games there. I picked out 9 games without one game in April.

Speaking of Red Sox tickets
… I received an email from the Red Sox yesterday, I am on their mailing list since I bought tickets at Fenway last year.
They are promoting Cubs 9-packs — to Red Sox fans. Even though you can only get one Red Sox game per Cubs 9-pack.

Well
… if I’m a Boston fan wanting to come to Wrigley, why would I buy eight other unrelated Cubs games to see ONE Red Sox game?

IIRC,
Didnt they do that to Yankees fans last year with the Yanks coming to Wrigley?

With Stubhub nowadays
you could probably sell the other 8 games at a small loss and still come out ahead versus buying 1 Red Sox game on Stubhub.

Not sure about that.
Last year Cubs/Yankees tickets were going for face value the day.
"Pounding sand since 1982...."
Right.
Unless the Cubs are doing really well, that’s a risk.
Red Sox tickets aren’t selling the way they have in the past, either, and with Boston missing the playoffs two years in a row, their fans might not travel the way they used to.

I don't see the Cubs doing really well...
…so I wouldn’t consider it much of a risk.
With that being said, the Red Sox series is one of the few I’m going to buy preseason. Maybe the White Sox series too, but that’s it.
"Pounding sand since 1982...."
Right, but you are buying specific games
… that you actually want to go to. This offer would make a Red Sox fan buy eight random games just to get ONE game from the series he/she wants.

I think we are agreeing.
I’m saying it’s not worth it to any fan to buy the 9 game pack, if you are only getting it for a specific series.
"Pounding sand since 1982...."
Unless the Red Sox Fan Lives in Chicagoland...
I can’t see that being a good deal. That Red Sox fan could make it to those other games that don’t involve the Cubs because of living in the area.

I think I got it right this time. I’m going to reread what I wrote. Okay, I’ve done that. Now, I feel that it’s safe to click the "Post’ button.
Good things come to those who wait... and wait....and wait.
then again there are Sawx fans who live in Chicagoland area
who might jump on it, for the sheer guarantee of seeing minimum game in the series

the trick would be
to sell as many of those other games well before gameday. Also, for a guy coming in from Boston, you probably want tickets in hand before getting on the plane.

I suppose...
…but even then it’d be cheaper to pay a bit more on stubhub than buy a bunch of tickets to games you don’t want.
"Pounding sand since 1982...."
a big key could be not every Sawx fan lives in Boston
and those near Chicago might benefit from this more than those in Boston
Condoms prevent minivans
I remember...
…the last time the Red Sox came, the reports were 40k flew in and only 20k actually went to the game.
"Pounding sand since 1982...."
I wonder how many take to the roof tops for the series?
my dads brokerage firm does that for the Cubs/Yanks series since they have a sister firm in NY and both firms spend the series up there
Condoms prevent minivans
Good point.
Very possible. And who knows how accurate those reports were.
"Pounding sand since 1982...."
only makes sense IMHO if
1. you are a Sawx fan in Chicago and dont mind seeing a few other games
2. you are a Sawx fan who has Cub fan friends in Chicago you can move the other to
3. you travel for work to Chicago a few times a year

Will it be the same
as in the past as far as wristbands, etc., etc.?
I assume so.
The Cubs should be posting the rules on their website. I’ll link to them here.

At the risk of tugging on Superman's cape, spitting in the wind and pulling the mask of the old Lone Ranger...
Mrs. Zeke and I are still on the list. See my sig line. We moved up 3000 spots before the Jan. 28 ST seating event and haven’t moved since then.
Well, THAT ought to jinx it good…

I'm predicting the worst first day of single game sales
for the Cubs since 2002, other than the Red Sox, who is gonna pay the outrageous price for tickets? They’ve priced out the entire ballpark on Saturday’s for most common people, the Cubs are gonna realize after March 9th they’ve got a lot of work to do to sell single game tickets this year.
By the way, checked out the White Sox ticket price for comparison and they’ve matched the Cubs pricing for the White So/Cubs games, a big mistake IMO since Cubs/Sox takes place on a Mon/Tue/Weds over there…they too want $86.00 for outfield seats. That series will have thousands of empties at the Cell with those prices.
The Sox/Cubs games at the Cell did not sell out last year
… they surely won’t this year either.
Join us for complete MLB coverage at SB Nation's Baseball Nation
agreed, no more than 30.000 last year
at the Cell on the Monday night game I went too. The entire right field bleacher section was empty. The Sox thinking is why not charge the same price as the Cubs do,,, well there is big difference between a weekend series and a weekday series, especially with two projected medicore teams. They really are clueless over there.
That could be partially because it was a Monday night though.
Having said that, I agree that this series won’t be sold out…. again.
Red Sox/White Sox will sell out.
That’s it.
The biggest laugher on the schedule is the Marquee game on June 30 vs the Astros.

agreed, I'm not buying single game tickets this year
and I’m a die hard who lives in the neighborhood, just cannot get my casual friends to pay $86.00 to sit in the bleachers for a game. I usually just attend Fri and Sat games, just gonna work off of Stubhub where I expect tix to be way below face.
Yep. StubHub or eBay is the way I'll be going this year.
Below face AND you don’t have to pay those service fees on tickets.com (well, at least on eBay you don’t… I think StubHub there is a little fee but not what Tickets.com is)
Craigslist is the way to go
Last minute deals below face, usually a quick & local cash transaction. StubHub and their service/shipping charges can suck it.
eBay is good too, if you can find cheap shipping options. I got a pair of 500s on there for $8 total once. Face was $60.

craiglist is great for bleacher seats
since there is no assigned seating, as u say quick cash transaction usually below face.
