Around SBN: Indy 500: Coverage of the 'Greatest Spectacle In Racing'

Sorry, it's from a tweet...was originally linked to in a post on HBT, This doesn't make a whole lot of sense given the desire to give younger arms, innings.

Coffey is a decent middle reliever.

I’m not sure why the Nats didn’t retain him.

Sign and flip

Works for me

10-25-2011. Theo Epstein joins the Cubs. Now, the fun begins.

Sure. Why not? He's not going to cost a bunch of money,

and I like the idea of having a relatively stable bullpen with a young team. Wins will be difficult to come by a lot of the time. To continually blow the leads you do manage to have can be demoralizing. Then, if enough young arms come along that a guy like Coffey is expendable, there’s always a market.

The flipping

Seems like at least as much of a reason to sign a guy like Coffey as the whole help-make-the-bullpen-better thing. Hopefully he looks good, and becomes a modestly reasonable trade piece mid-season. I wouldn’t hate it.

He should have an increase in stamina in Wrigley

Distance from the bullpens to the mound is less of a sprint than anywhere else.

Same here.

I couldn’t stand him when he was with the Brewers. His numbers are all over the place, too. I guess he’s been decent enough — and durable — for the last three seasons as a middle reliever.

If this is what we're looking at

I’d prefer we try to work out a deal with Shawn Camp
