This is the 18th season of the wild-card era; we have had the Division Series round every year since 1995.
This is the first year of the 18 in which all four division series went the distance, to a deciding fifth game. Since we had one regular-season winner-take-all game (of a sort -- the last Rangers/Athletics game decided the AL West winner), two wild-card play-in games, and now four Game 5's in the division series round, that makes seven elimination games in the last ten days (including the two today), several of which have been excruciatingly exciting, or controversial.
Baseball is living right. We've had an outstanding postseason so far, and we still have two rounds to go.
This will be the first Yankees postseason game not played in the evening this year. Will their players even know what to do?
