Wednesday night, they put the tarp on the field in Detroit when it wasn't raining and called a delay; it didn't start raining until about an hour and a half after scheduled game time. But then it rained pretty much all night, and into this morning. They made the right call -- better to just call the game off, rather than to play four innings, suspend it, and force both teams to lose their starting pitchers.
The rain is now out of the Detroit area and they'll play, with the Tigers going for a four-game sweep. The Yankees haven't been swept in a postseason series since the 1980 ALCS (which was best-of-five) and haven't been swept in a seven-game postseason series since the 1976 World Series.
Unless you're a Yankee fan, I'd think you're thinking like me: "About time."
Meanwhile, in St. Louis, the Giants will try to even up the NLCS behind Tim Lincecum, who had a terrible regular season but has been lights-out in the postseason.
