The Giants just finished winning three elimination games to win their division series over the Reds.
They will have to do the same to win the NLCS. Can they do it? That's a good question; while you are contemplating, check out the 11 teams that have done it in the past (written by me for Baseball Nation earlier Friday).
Of the 11 times it's happened -- a team coming from down three games to one to win a seven-game postseason series -- the Cardinals were the victims three times. C'mon, Giants. Make it four.
If the Cardinals do win today, we don't get any more baseball until Wednesday, when the World Series begins. For that alone, I'd like to see the series extended. (And also because Game 4 was dull and one-sided.)
MLB.com Gameday for Giants/Cardinals. Cardinals lead series 3-1. Game time: 7 p.m. CDT. TV: Fox. Announcers: Joe Buck, Tim McCarver and Erin Andrews.
Here is the complete MLB.com Mediacenter for today.
This will be the only thread for today's games; if it gets too slow, post another one in the fanshot area. Discuss amongst yourselves.
