2012 MLB Division Series, Day 3: Nationals/Cardinals, Yankees/Orioles

Two of the four division series continue Monday. It's possible that all four could stand at two games to none after today's action.

As it turns out, despite all the complaints about the team with the better record having to start the division series on the road, four of the six games so far have been won by the road team (two by the Reds, one each by the Yankees and Cardinals). Only the Athletics have cause to "complain", and the complaints would have been stopped by them simply winning the games they had to play 2,400 miles from home. The other road teams took care of business.

All four series will have two games played after today, and if the Nats and Yankees win again, all four series will be within one game of a sweep. Since the division-series round was added to the playoffs in 1995, there has not yet been a year in which all four series were sweeps. Twice, three of the four series were swept and one finished 3-1. That happened in 2007 and 2010.

It's still fairly early in the round and things could turn around. It would be nice to have fifth games to remember, instead of having to remember this postseason for umpiring controversies.
