I have been thinking about this for quite some time now and since this is a forum made up of fans like myself I thought I could get some answers here. Also, since most of my friends are just casual fans of the team that can't tell you the name of one player in our system, it doesn't make for interesting conversations. Since the beginning of the Ricketts tenure as owners of the Cubs, I have gotten a vibe that he is a cheapskate and everything he has done since has further proved my opinion. Also, it really upsets me that the media has seemed to give this regime a pass and not push the envelope because of almighty Theo and his great plan.
I understand that it is a business and that we are rebuilding but there are plenty of upgrades out there to our current roster that are willing to sign one or two year deals. I would be completely fine with the Ricketts saving money on the club this year if there werent any available players on the market that would make the club better. However, that is just simply not the case in my opinion. If someone could please explain to me both the reason why the budget has dropped so significantly and why the media is giving the organization a pass that would be great.
I am typing this on my iPhone and its being weird so I apologize in advance. I know how some of you are with grammatical errors and would hate to ruin your day, even if by accident.
