Hoyer driving to Spring Training with his dog
Haven't seen this mentioned yet. Hoyer estimates is going to be a 4 day road trip with his dog to Arizona. Gotta love a dog fan.

LOL-Boy, when we start getting stories about the GM's dog...
…it’s REALLY time for spring training to get started.
Really.
I drive that route, too. It’s actually enjoyable, and once you get into New Mexico, pretty scenic.
He’s not the only major league GM driving with his dog to ST. Tweet from Sandy Alderson of the Mets:
We’re driving to St. Lucie because our dog (Buddy) doesn’t like to fly. His complaint: Where I sit, no lights and no stews.

Sandy Alderson must be attending the Isiah Thomas management school.

Check out Alderson's latest tweet.
Prepping for trip. Bought 4 like-new tires at chop shop across from Citi. He threw in free wiper fluid. Better than the Wheeler deal!
He’s actually funny.

When I lived in Iowa,
we would leave Des Moines and make it all the way to Tucumcari, NM on the first day. Those crosswinds in the New Mexico ravines can be deadly though, saw a horrible crash one year.

Wow, that's pretty good time.
I usually stop in Oklahoma City overnight, then do the rest the second day.

Yea,
We would cut across the 2 lane in Kansas instead of going south out of KC, saves a few hours then we just cut through the Oklahoma and Texas pan handle. I think it’s only 8 hours from Tucumcari to Phoenix, maybe a little more.

I know that route
drove it a few times when I was stationed in Ft Riley…..that was some good time from tucumcari, usually take 2 hours to get to ALB and then 7 hours from ABQ to phoenix…..scenery out here is awesome though….it’ll be early spring so it will start getting warm but the mountains will be snowcapped….I love driving around gallup and grants, lots of scenery. I know you guys are usually busy, but on your trips if you get a chance, drive up to the top of sandia peak(or take the tram). On a good clear day you can see Mt Taylor on the border with arizona.
Thanks for the tip.
That’s pretty much what it takes me — about two hours from Tucumcari to ABQ, then about seven to Phoenix. The scenery in NM is really nice, especially if there is some snow on the mountain peaks.

I would do almost anything to trade places with Jed right now.
If my dog Lucy and I were driving to Phoenix for work. And I was making Jed’s income, with his job….. Has anyone had it better?
The wife & kid fly out ahead of you, and 4 days of open road, with your dog, as you head to your first spring training as GM ofthe Cubs.

I can’t decide if it should be a book or a movie. Maybe both.
