Poor Draft Dooms Cubs in 2012

I am not posting the URL to the article mentioned above because it is an ESPN Insider article (I don't know if someone who does not pay for Insider can access the link or not). Instead of posting that URL I am posting the page that links to the article. The article breaks down WAR based on each teams drafts over the past 10 years. Boston produced the most WAR out of their drafts with a score of 99.2. The Cubs were fifth from the bottom with 18.9. Meyers, the author of the article, said that the Cubs draft failures were mind-boggling. Not a single first round pick from 2002-2005 even reached the Majors! In 2002 we had 10 picks in the first four rounds and Rich Hill was the only one to even make a "blip" in the majors -- he was our fourth round pick that year. Even though our drafting has been atrocious it is pretty good to see that Boston was number one during that period and we have some good days to look forward to!
