Cubs Tales From The VWR, 2012 Edition

Stay connected for news and updates

This is the first time in recent memory that the Cubs have had their first day of single-game ticket sales after the spring training season has already begun.

The reason I mention this is that means this post will get pushed down the page later on Friday when today's game preview posts at 12 noon CST.

Here's what the Cubs say about wristbands:

Wristband holders with numbers 01429 through 11500 should come down to Wrigley Field starting at 7 a.m. on Friday, March 9. The in-person onsale begins at 8 a.m. CST.

Obviously, 7 a.m. has already passed. But the more interesting point is the number of wristbands called. In years when ticket demand was higher, maybe 500 numbers were in the first call. Now, it's more than 10,000. Clearly, they don't expect 10,000 people to line up. I'd guess that the ticket windows will be open to anyone by 11 a.m. or shortly after. UPDATE, from the comments: ticket windows were open to anyone at 9 a.m. CST.

Use this post all day for discussion of ticket issues. I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who actually are at the box office this morning and afternoon. The online and phone sale begins at 10 a.m. CST. Phone numbers can be found at the link above.
