Welcome to the first Cubs game of the year that you can only see if you are in areas designated by a Fox-TV employee in New York! (That's probably him in the photo above.) Full details on coverage after the jump.
I received an email suggestion from BCBer cubsluver22 that I put a "Prospect Watch" on the site, so people can keep track on a daily basis of the players coming up through the system. I consulted Josh to get a list of 10 players he thought were worth following; the players and links are on the left sidebar. Josh & I will update this list during the year if other players start doing well and should be followed. Thanks for the idea!
Cubs lineup:
DeJesus rf, Barney 2b, Castro ss, Soriano lf, Stewart 3b, LaHair 1b, Soto c, Byrd cf, Volstad p
Once again, the Cardinals lineup was not available at posting time. But guess what? It might not matter, because there are storms all over the St. Louis area again this morning, and more to the west. There's a pretty good chance this game will be delayed, or even postponed.

Chris Volstad has not faced the Cardinals in almost a year, since May 2, 2011 in St. Louis. That one didn't go so well, but most of the Cardinals who got hits off him that day are either no longer on the team, or won't play today. So there's that. Current Cardinals, though, are hitting .343 (20-for-74) off Volstad; watch out for Matt Holliday (6-for-11, two doubles).
Lance Lynn is making just his fourth major league start (two last year, two this year). Current Cubs have just four at-bats against him (Jeff Baker, Marlon Byrd, Geovany Soto and Alfonso Soriano, all 0-for-1). What to expect from him today -- who knows?
Today's game is on Fox. And it appears to be the third-most-important game on Fox's list (Angels/Yankees and Rangers/Twins are the others), so most of you won't get to see it, unless there are rain delays in either of the other games (although the best chance of a rainout for Fox appears to be in St. Louis). Here is the coverage map for today's Fox games and here is the complete MLB.com Mediacenter for today.
