This quote comes from Ken Rosenthal:
Don’t rule out the possibility of the Cubs trading second baseman Darwin Barney. Rival clubs frequently ask about Barney, but none has offered value that the Cubs consider sufficient for a regular second baseman. Barney might end up more of a utility type.
I know he has some value if he can play every day, but really? Teams are asking about him? Why do I feel he's just another Theriot or Fontenot, someone who will have a handful of respectable MLB years and then become a bench/utility/DFA player.
Should the Cubs value him so highly? Are other teams right in thinking he's more of a utility type, as Rosenthal says? And that's why we haven't moved him, because teams aren't offering enough in our eyes?
We've got nothing ready at the MLB level, unless we want to play Baker at 2B. Or play Cardenas next year, or later this year if we DO trade Barney?
