I got to say Rizzo looks great, he didn't get on base, but his outs were not cheap ones. Round Rock's RF robbed him in the first of a home run. His swing looks effortless and sweet. HIs defense looked nice as well with some nice digs.
BJax played RF and looked at home, didn't do much with the bat or glove to impress, but also didn't made any mistakes. His arm looked nice on the few throws in he made.
"Beef" Wellington caught the first few innings, He looked good, but the pitcher did nothing to help him or the catcher who came in after. I think there were 5 or 6 passed balls to go along with 3 errors in the infield (one was ruled a hit, talk about some home cooking on that one).
Vitters played and his bat looked good, especially the home run he hit deep to left onto the home run deck. Sadly on a routine grounder he did a great job of throwing it into the Cubs dugout well out of reach for Rizzo,.
The entire team showed the lack of plate patients we are used to in Chicago. Round Rock's starter had less than 30 pitches entering the 4th inning and might have hit the 90 pitch mark as he threw a complete game.
A side note about Vitters, he did win me over as a fan of his. After his HR when crossing the plate, the Iowa bat boy who is a special needs child you could tell, looked for a high five. Vitters stopped and gave him a hug instead. I thought that was a great gesture and showed me more about him than any stat or play on the field could.
