After randomly looking at the Rays top Prospects list, I'm glad we gave them 3 of their top 12 Prospects, and #1 and 2. Chirinos would probably rank high on the list too but he's already on the 40 man roster and on the 60 day DL. I initially thought we gave up too much to get Garza, but this list definitely shows it now.
There has been talks that the Cubs want to at least get a similar deal to what they gave away to acquire Garza, but after looking at this list, I find that extremely hard to do. I know Garza has 2 years less on his deal than when we got him, so that will play a factor, but I don't think we're going to receive anything close to what we gave away for Garza.
Anyone have any other thoughts about this? Unless we can get a solid top of the rotation prospect, and more, is it worth it to trade Garza rather than resigning him and trying to build the rotation around him for years to come?
