I'm sure this has been done before so not too original on my part. What I would like to know from anyone who cares to comment is: Where where you born? Where do you live now? And for what reason, circumstance did you become a Cub fan?
Since this is my baby, I'll go first.
I was born in 1960 in Peoria. My parents were part of the great midwest migration in the 60's. We all moved to Long Beach, Ca. in 1963. I kinda be-bopped between Ca. and lLL. from then on. Went to grade school at Douglas Elementry in Pekin. Seemed like all my classmates were Card fans. I was pretty much alone.
When i was 14 I went back to Ca. to live with my Dad. Umm. and no, I am not proud of this. I also became a Dodger fan. We would go to see Cubs whenever the schedule brought them there, of course. These were the days of Garvey, Lopes, Russell, Cey, Baker, Wynn, etc. Needless to say, Cubs got walloped most times. And I kinda took a perverse pleasure in my Dad cussing them out all the way home. I'm not exactly sure when it turned around for me. Probably about '75, or 76. Since then, I have been true to my roots through all the insults, innuendos, and garbage that anyone who is not a Cub fan can give you. I know what we're going through right now is hard. But, I'm no expert. I guess Theo and Jed are. I'm willing to put up with 1 more season like this one. But I think in 2014 we should be a contending club. Maybe not win it all. But not be a patsy like we are now.
I have another interesting story I posted on a game thread about a year ago about Carlyle Higholt ( a Wrigley family member) Might make another interesting fanpost.
Ok...the floor is open. Like I said. My first attempt at this. I welcome any critique you have. What did i do wrong? Did i use the wrong format? ie;fanshots, as opposed to fan post?
Thanks Guys and Gals
