Congratulations to Boise Hawk Rock Shoulders, winner of this year's Minor League Moniker Madness Tournament. Rock now officially has the best name in minor league baseball.

The big story tonight was the best pitching performance of the season down in Peoria. And no, it wasn't by Starlin Castro doing double-duty, no matter what milb.com said.

Iowa Cubs

The Iowa Cubs tricked the Reno Aces (Diamondbacks), 7-4.

Starter Ty'Relle Harris got his first career Triple-A win after six strong innings. He allowed two runs on six hits. Harris walked one and struck out five.

Jairo Asencio threw a perfect ninth inning for his first save. He struck out one.

Second baseman Alfredo Amezaga was 2 for 3 with a triple and a walk. He scored twice. Left fielder Dave Sappelt was 2 for 4 with two RBI.

Tennessee Smokies

The Tennessee Smokies were overrun by the Jackson Generals (Mariners), 10-4.

Jacob Brigham had a rough start and didn't even make it out of the first inning. Brigham pitched two-thirds of an inning and allowed six runs on six hits. Brigham walked one and struck out one.

DH Justin Bour was 2 for 3 with a sac fly. Right fielder Nelson Perez was 2 for 4.

The Smokies hit three triples in this game, one a piece for Matt Szczur, Logan Watkins and Matt Cerda.

Daytona Cubs

The Daytona Cubs shot down the Lakeland Flying Tigers, 6-1.

Starting pitcher Austin Kirk improved his record to 7-3 after allowing only one run over 5.2 innings. Kirk gave up four hits and he walked one. Kirk struck out three.

Shortstop Javier Baez got his first Daytona hits tonight, going 2 for 4 with a double and three RBI. Baez also scored one run.

Left fielder John Andreoli added three stolen bases to his league-leading 47 steals. Andreoli was 2 for 3 with a walk and a run scored.

Peoria Chiefs

The Peoria Chiefs usurped the Clinton LumberKings (Mariners), 5-3.

The story of this game was starting pitcher Starling Peralta, who retired the first seventeen batters he faced before allowing a two-out solo home run in the sixth inning. Peralta finished the night with seven innings, allowing only the one run on two hits. He did not walk anyone and he struck out fourteen, which is a record for the Peoria ballpark.

Larry Suarez entered the game with two out and runners on the corners in the bottom of the eighth after Bryce Shafer got into trouble. He got a ground out to end the inning and then pitched a perfect ninth inning for his first save. Suarez had one strikeout.

Second baseman Zeke DeVoss was a perfect 4 for 4 with two doubles and a triple. He scored four runs.

Catcher Chadd Krist was 2 for 4 with two RBI. Third baseman Wes Darvill was 2 for 4.

Boise Hawks

The Boise Hawks lost to the Everett Aqua Sox (Mariners), 6-3.

Starter James Pugliese was solid over four innings, allowing only one run on six hits. He walked two and struck out six.

Michael Heesch took the loss in relief. He pitched two innings and allowed three runs on five hits. Heesch did not walk anyone and he fanned three.

First baseman Dan Vogelbach hit a solo home run over the scoreboard in right-center field. It was his third home run of the year for the Hawks and tenth overall. Vogelbach was 1 for 3 with a walk.

DH Gioskar Amaya hit his league-leading tenth triple in a 2 for 5 game. Amaya had one RBI.
