Welcome to the 1st edition of "Should he play or should he go..." Bryan LaHair edition.
Kanderber and Nunya struck up this conversation in today's pre-game thread and I thought it worthy.
Kanderber strikes 1st, wondering aloud why David DeJesus continues to play. Nunya jumps in and frames the debate: "There's a better chance DeJesus is on next year's roster than LaHair." After a brief interlude from Al, Kanderber hedges that point, but claims we still don't know what LaHair can do. Nunya (surprising no one) pushes all in:
"I don't think LaHair is an unknown at this point
He’s been sucking for months now and he’s been way worse than DDJ.
There’s also the fact that DDJ can actually get on base occasionally."
Kanderber then continues to debate the point a bit, trotting out some 2 week splits and bringing up Rizzo's presence on the club. Daver and Sack-Man try to pick up the thread, Jeff tries to inject some humor and Nunya drops out. No conclusion is reached.
So essentially, what we have with LaHair is 6 weeks of unsustainably great hitting, followed by 6 weeks weeks of sucking. Is 12 weeks enough time to judge him Hiroshima Toyo Carp material? Has the move to the OF affected his hitting? Should we bring back Rudy Jaramillo?
