Darwin Barney already might have won the Cubs’ postseason haul for the year, if a casual survey of opposing NL managers on Gold Glove voting means anything.
Four out of five polled in recent weeks say they already cast their votes for Barney to win his first Gold Glove.
The fifth hadn’t voted but suggested he was leaning toward Barney.
Another, Reds manager Dusty Baker, declined to reveal his vote. But considering he can’t vote for his own guy — two-time defending Gold Glove second baseman and preseason favorite Brandon Phillips — his vote shouldn’t hurt Barney’s chances, at least.
Now tell the truth. When you saw "Four out of five" above, didn't you immediately think of those old "four out of five dentists recommend" commercials?
And remember: Baseball players win "Gold Gloves". Professional boxers fight in "Golden Gloves" competitions. There's a difference.

|2012 - Mike Leake||8-9||32||28||2||0||0||0||167.0||191||93||87||25||36||112||4.69||1.36|
Chris Rusin has never faced the Reds or anyone on their roster. Of his four MLB starts, three have been decent-to-good, one has been horrific. He actually looks like he might become a decent back-of-the-rotation starter. Hope to see continued improvement.
Mike Leake has faced the Cubs twice this year and allowed eight earned runs in 11⅔ innings; the Reds lost both games, two of the four they've lost to the Cubs this year. Current Cubs, in fact, are hitting .345 against Leake (30-for-87) with two home runs. One of those was Tony Campana's inside-the-park job, and the other was a game-tying two-run shot by Bryan LaHair with two out in the last of the ninth in this game, which the Cubs wound up losing anyway, in 13 innings. So maybe we're not totally doomed tonight.
Today's game is on CSN Chicago.
Today's first pitch thread will post at 7:05 p.m. CDT and the overflows at 8:05, 9:05 and 9:50 p.m. CDT. If you need more overflows due to extra innings or rain delays, post them in the fanshot section. Also please note: due to some under-the-hood changes, the sidebar box with the game thread links is no longer available. It seems you've found them with no problems, but if you haven't been able to find the overflow threads, click the "Chicago Cubs Game Threads" link under "Sections" on the left sidebar. They're all in there.
Discuss amongst yourselves.
