First off, this season was over on about April 1st. Poor Al, you've had a wretched year to endure (not your first, I know). I know it's all about rebuilding, and I'm cool with that too.
This is about the game last night. I'm no Bryce Harper apologist, but like it or not, the guy plays hard. I LOVE that! Hope he plays that way his entire career.
I love the Cubs and always will, and although I didn't see the altercation(s) live, I have to think there is a message for the loveable losers. Grow the hell up. If you don't want someone swinging at a 3-0 pitch in the 5th inning, then don't run the count to 3-0, don't throw a freaking watermelon pitch on 3-0 count, and take your ass kicking like a man, Quirk. Holy hell. You are absolutely a pathetic excuse for a major league baseball team, and if you don't get better quickly, you're going to get the hell beat out of you for a lot longer than the rest of September.
Let's face it, the Nats are for real. They are good and we are not, but you can't fault the guys for playing baseball the way it was meant to be played. And don't give me that "unwritten code" crap. They're trying to get in the playoffs. You do that by scoring more runs than your opponent on as many nights as you can - even if that includes swinging at a 3-0 pitch in the 5th inning or 9th for that matter. The guy is up there to hit the f-ing baseball. If you can't accept that, then you need to find a new line of employment. Perhaps with a socialist organization where the wealth can be spread, but it isn't going to happen in major league baseball.
Stepping down from my soapbox now.
