Most of the news in baseball the past two days concerns the announcement of the preliminary rosters for the World Baseball Classic, but I already covered that in a separate story. So here are some stories that you might have missed in your WBC fever. (OK, I have WBC fever. I wonder if that's what laid me out earlier in the week.)

• Mike Napoli and the Red Sox finally agreed to terms at one year and $5 million. That's only two years and $34 million less than they agreed to before the Red Sox got to look at his hip.
• Alex Rodriguez finally had his surgery, and his doctor says the cartilage damage was less than he expected.That's the first bit of good news A-Rod's gotten in a while.
• The Padres are still trying to get their games on television across San Diego County. It seems no matter what they do, they can't get their games in the homes of everyone who wants to see them. It seems like it's been a mess down there for a long time.
• The Mets looked at Brian Wilson and weren't impressed. Are they talking about his appearance at the ESPYs?
• Pablo Sandoval is hospitalized in Venezuela with colitis.
• John Perrotto of Baseball Prospectus get the opinion of a "Front-office type" on the remaining free agents.
• Curt Schilling is selling his bloody sock. Does it come with ketchup?
• Manny Ramirez still wants to play in the majors. Give it up, Manny. If you really want to play, there are independent league teams that would be glad to have you.
• Matthew Pouliot takes a look back at the wacky season that was 1987. I remember it very, very well. It probably put Andre Dawson in the Hall of Fame. Also, I was going to school in Minnesota and a deeply, deeply weird team won the World Series.
• Speaking of the Twins, La Velle Neal writes in the Star-Tribune that they still have no answers for the questions they entered the off-season with.
• Jeff Moore of the Hardball Times thinks the Nationals made a good move signing Rafael Soriano and the fact that his agent is Scott Boras is irrelevant.
• Finally on the World Baseball Classic, Jon Paul Morosi is disappointed more American stars are not competing.
