With the Mariners recent signing of Robinson Cano, their highly touted prospect Nick Franklin now becomes expendable, and I think he would be a good fit. At only 22 years old, Frankling batted .225 this past season in just over 400 ABs. He isn't arbitration eligible until 2017, which seems to align perfectly with TheoJed's strategy of getting young, cost controlled players/prospects with high ceilings. Franklin seems to be just that.
The Mariners are in need of pitching, so perhaps a package centered around Shark, with Barney included as a utility player, could net us Frankling and maybe a younger prospect in their minor league system.
