Another Suburban Mayor Has Another Dumb Cubs Idea

Now it's Tinley Park, which has pretty much zero chance of happening. Still, I thought you'd be amused by the proposed location.

There's a public hearing scheduled for Thursday to discuss Wrigley Field renovations before the Commission on Chicago Landmarks. When that happens, I'll have details here.

In the meantime, have a few laughs at the latest ridiculous proposal by a suburban mayor to move the Cubs outside of Chicago.

The photo of the mayor in that link should be enough all by itself to dissuade you from thinking that location is a good idea, but I also thought you'd be amused by the location that's being proposed:

Tinley Park Mayor Ed Zabrocki has a message for Chicago Cubs Chairman Tom Ricketts: If it doesn't work out with the city of Chicago, move to the south suburbs.

"In that event that you cannot come to an agreement with the city of Chicago, I would be remiss not to tell you about an opportunity that exists in the village of Tinley Park," Zabrocki wrote in a letter to Ricketts dated June 2O.

The proposal invites Ricketts to consider moving the team to the former Tinley Park Mental Health Center. Attached to the letter is an aerial map of the property's 28O acres.

A former mental health center? Well, that would go along with the team's current marketing slogan, anyway. I thought this was worth passing along, even though you surely realize that this has about as much chance of happening as me being named to replace Theo as President of Baseball Operations.
