Kane County Cougars
The Kane County Cougars squashed the Burlington Bees (Athletics), 8-6.
Pierce Johnson started for the Cougars and collected his fourth win of the season. Johnson allowed four runs on five hits over five innings. Two of the four runs were unearned, and the two that were earned were both solo home runs by the Bees' Sherman Johnson. They were Sherman Johnson's first two home runs this season. Johnson walked two and struck out five.

First baseman Dan Vogelbach gave the Cougars a lead they would never relinquish when he hit a two-run home run in the top of the first inning. It was Vogelbach's ninth home run. He was 2 for 3 with two walks, although one was intentional. Vogelbach scored three times.
Right fielder Reggie Golden was 3 for 4 with a two-run single in the third inning.
