Soriano vs Pujols - 2012 and 2013

I am not about to say that the Soriano contract will go down as the best in Cubs history but I think it is fair to say that it far from being the worst. Overall grade at this point is a C+

How would you like to be an Angels fan and staring at Pujols and his contract? To help illustrate this, lets take a look at Soriano and Pujols since Albert went to the AL

Soriano

Age 37

2013 Stats - 15 HRs, 48 RBIs, BA 266

I think his defense in left may less than stellar, but it has not been Dave Kingman-like. Soriano has been a sneaky decent base stealer this year. Salary both years - 18M

Pujols

Age 33

2012 Stats - 30 HRs 105 RBIs, BA .285

2013 Stats - 14 HRs 53 RBIs, BA .250

Defense is average, and he is a gimp on the bases. Though his salary was 12M last year and 16M this year, in 2021 (when the Cubs are celebrating their third WS in the last six years) he will be making 30M at the age of 41. Ouch
