Planning public transportation to Wrigley

I'm driving from Indiana to Chicago with my son on Sunday the 4th for the 1:20 game, meeting my sister and her two kids, then going to Milwaukee with the three kids.

My plan is to drive somewhere in the Chicago area and then take the train to/from Wrigley. I will be leaving luggage, etc. in the car.

I'm thinking I might drive to Wilmette and park at the Linden Street Purple Line station. I think I can get there by 10 AM pretty easily. That way I can avoid the city traffic getting out to Milwaukee. Probably a reasonably safe lot to park in.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the previous advice on seats in the shade, by the way -- my sister bought seats in row 3 of section 509, which I figure should be fine. I haven't sat in that part of the park since seeing a 16-13 loss to the Phillies in 1989. Too bad I'll miss Al and his gang in the bleachers, but some day I'll pull it off again -- this will be my first visit to Wrigley since 2007!
