So I happened to catch a bit of the Cardinals game last night. Allen Craig comes to the plate and the announcers mention that he leads the NL with a .475 batting average with RISP. They then put up a graphic showing that Cardinals occupy the 1, 4, 6 and 9 slots in the top 10 NL averages with RISP. I hate the Cardinals. Truly. But objectively speaking, that is INSANE. Were the '27 Yankees even that good?
I want to imagine a Cubs line-up with that kind of firepower, but it's hard with the anemic offense we have now. Is it realistic to think that a 20015 or 2016 (so far away . . . ) line up including Baez, Bryant, Almora, Soler and Rizzo can approach this type of production? If so, that would be a Cubs team unlike any we've ever seen before.
