I definitely want the Royals to win this game.
That's because I want the 2014 baseball season to last one final day, October 29, for a Game 7. Partly because baseball should last as long as it can, and partly because Game 7 of the World Series is always exciting -- one game, winner-take-all for that year's championship. We have had just four of these in the 19 years of the wild-card era so far (1997, 2001, 2002 and 2011). One of those involved the Giants blowing a 3-2 series edge, though obviously that situation is not specifically relevant to this year's.
In just one of those previous four did the team that won Game 5 go on to win the series -- the 1997 Marlins, and even they lost Game 6 and blew a ninth-inning lead in Game 7 before winning.
That's the kind of excitement I'd like from this year's World Series, excitement like we had in the early rounds of this year's postseason, excitement that's been missing from the World Series so far.
