BCB's David Sameshima visited Wrigley Field briefly on Saturday and filed this report:
I don't have too much to describe Saturday's visit. I didn't have time to stay and figure out what were doing. I can tell you that they were working in the left center field area. The only other area with activity was the sound of sandblasting along the third-base concourse. What I can report is that there appears to be quite a drop on the Waveland side. In the left field corner, I would guess that in the middle of Waveland there is a drop of 6-10 feet. This is the drop between the pavement and where they have excavated along the bleacher wall.In the triangle lot there is now a large trench in the corner, along the Clark Street and Waveland Avenue sidewalks. They appear to have set up Clark so the barricaded east side of the street is a drive-through lane for dump trucks. They have left gates at both ends of the "lane."
David's hoping to go back today and if so, we'll have more photos here tomorrow.
