Sports Illustrated is reporting the Angels and Mike Trout are near a deal that will keep him an Angel for the next six years, or until he's 28 years old. The article says it would be considered a record deal in that someone with just two years experience would be getting a contract for this long and for this much money. The comments to the article already talk about how it's a bad deal for Trout, but there's no word on how much each year is worth. In other words, is it back loaded so that his salary per year is $40M or some such number. If this report is true, I give the Angels credit for getting this type of deal done.
