With Kris Medlen hurt and Brandon Beachy leaving a game today with elbow tightness, it appears likely the Braves will have to go outside the organization to pick up a starter. Ervin Santana's not officially a Blue Jay yet, so he's a possibility. But there's not much left on the free agent market.
Could they be interested in Jeff Samardzija, and if so, do they have the pieces to get him? I'm not very familiar with the Braves' farm system. I could also see the Braves trading for Edwin Jackson, who is probably at least as good as Santana (despite his poor 2013) and wouldn't cost nearly as much in terms of prospects as Shark, provided Atlanta took on his entire contract.
What do you think?
