I watched a Spring training game with Rizzo, Olt (DH), and Baez in the lineup. They faced a decent lefty - John Danks with the White Sox. That lineup gave Danks trouble, starting with Olt's line drive double. Danks tried to pitch around them and this gave him trouble with other guys (notably Valbuena who hit 2 HRs). So I started thinking about what the lineup could look like in the latter half of the season.
I made a couple assumptions: one, that Castro would hit better this year (I don't know how much, just better); and, two, that Bonifacio would make the team, be able to play infield or outfield, and lead off. What could the lineup look like, I wondered? Here's my thought about a possible lineup:
Bonifacio (probably playing outfield) - Castro (infield) - Rizzo (1B) - Olt (3B) - Baez (infield) - and then some combination of Castillo, Lake, another outfielder, and, of course the pitcher (unless they're at an AL park). I think the first 5 guys could be difficult for a pitcher to get cleanly through the order every time. However, I'm not saying this would be the best order - this was more of a "what if" thought on how they might perform.
This is really just musings. Of course, if they all have an OBP in the 200's, then it doesn't really matter and we would see more U-turn hitting.
What are your thoughts about what you would like to see as a batting order among guys they have or could call-up in the second half of the season?
