Although I live in Los Angeles, I am in Pensacola this weekend to visit my dad. Yes, the visit was timed to coincide with the Smokies' visit because he and I love baseball. We caught the Wrigley home opener in 2012 and let me tell you it was COLD. Not so today, indeed the only wrinkle seems to be a diminishing chance of rain (knock on wood).
We'll be heading down to Penscola Bayfront Stadium, home of the Blue Wahoos the AA affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. I'm told it's a beautiful park - it's only 2 years old and is entering it's third season. It seats barely 5100 and most seats are in the hands of season ticket holders. We've been able to get nice seats in section 111, along the 3rd base side behind the visitors' dugout.
If everything meta works out, I'll be tweeting along with posting some photos and trying to squeeze in a Vine video or three. My twitter and Vine handles are "the4Star" same as here so follow along, and if you can't shoot a comment and I'll try to troubleshoot it to be smooth about it. The plans are for three games: tonight, Friday and Saturday.
FRIDAY NIGHT UPDATE: Buddy Bailey told a group of autograph hunters that Soler has gone back to Arizona.
I have an excellent Vine and Twitter pic of CJ Edwards warming up to start tonight's game, check them out.
SATURDAY NIGHT UPDATE: it's raining pretty good here in Pensacola, but me and the pops are still hopeful. We have tickets down the third base line but between the rain and the Gators inn the Final Four if we make it we think we'll grab behind the plate seats again tonight. Will advise!
Ok, game time pushed 15 minutes, but weather should still be a factor.
As Al noted Thursday, Arrieta is starting tonight, it's the bottom of the first.
Enjoy! And Go Smokies!!
