They need the Shark.
Who would the Cubs want? Who would the Rangers part with?
Yes, he's injured, but he'll be ready in a few weeks. He also fits in with the Cubs right now, who are stocked with young guys who are learning the game and will grow together to hopefully be a team that contends for many years.
This scenario presents an opportunity to solve another problem.
The Rangers have issues at 2B right now, and they'd love to have a healthy, high quality defensive player to help out. The current player, Rougned Odor, is a top prospect, but he's well.. rough around the edges, having only about 60 games above A level before entering the Bigs.
Even though the Rangers' offense has been in a funk, they can afford a low grade bat in a 2B platoon (Odor is LH) because they have the DH, and with the Shark, they'd have the pitching.
The Rangers might just want...nay, need...Darwin Barney.
Why would the Rangers part with Profar, when they've refused in the past? Shark is that good, and Profar was underwhelming last year. Also, they can compete with a platoon 2B and solid pitching.
On the Cubs end:
Profar can play any position in the field, but would certainly be the solution for 2B. We could snag a pitching prospect to even things out. How about Akeem Bostick, high upside RHP and lucky #13 ranked Rangers prospect.
