Cubs Heroes and Goats: Game 47

He's trying to pass his OBP magic to the others. - Denis Poroy

Two solid starts in a row for Travis Wood give him two consecutive Superhero awards.

Ran out of gas in the eighth, but the bullpen brought it home for him once again.

THE THREE HEROES:

  • Superhero - Travis Wood. Second start in a row with the Superhero honors.
  • Hero - Luis Valbuena. The Venezuelan god of OBP strikes again with two walks and a homer.
  • Sidekick - Hector Rondon. Closed the door efficiently to give the Cubs at least a split in the series.

THE THREE GOATS: Tough night for the top of the order.

  • Big Goat - Junior Lake. The whiff in the third with runners on second and third was the lowlight of his 0-for-4 evening.
  • GoatAnthony Rizzo. His 0-for-4 night was almost identical to Lake's, including the two runners stranded in the third. Lineup position is what saved him from the top stair.
  • Kid - Starlin Castro. Also 0-for-4, but had the benefit of the bases being empty each time.
