Okay I for one was extremely happy when Theo and Jed were hired. Jim Hendry had run this system to the ground with no hopes of a future. Though his last draft he showed he was not a total idiot. That said, when Theo came in I new as a loyal Cub fan it was going to be a overhaul and rebuild of extreme proportions. I have agreed with most of the moves made over the last few years and have loved the prospects we have gotten in return. The question I have is are we ever going to stop. I read today on MLB trade rumors that the Cubs plan to play it like last year and sell off one pitcher early and the other one later. The two pitchers are Hammel and then Shark. This makes me very angry. First off Hammel is showing a ton of potential and I would love to sign him to a longer deal. The same goes with Shark he is a legit 2 and possible 1. Let's sign him long term and this off season get the ace who will remain nameless to a deal. That would give us a great 1-4 and we could get rid of E. Jax for a Low A pitcher. We have some great pitchers coming up who could fight for the 5th spot and with the bats to be here next year we could be good.
I know this year is tanked but lets keep our best pitchers and sign them up. This off season with the addition of a SP and maybe a outfield and veteran DH/bench guy we could be wild card bound. The bats are going to be ready next year in Bryant, Alacantra (spelling I know), and Lopez. We may even be surprised by a few other bats making the trip to Wrigley next year in Baez, Bruno, and Soler. We have the bats and bullpen either on the team now or coming quick, lets see what keeping talented pitchers around can do.
