Cubs Heroes and Goats: Game 66

Oh, the humanity! - Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Jackson strikes again!

Good to see the starts-eater once again get shellacked and go less than five innings. Somebody make it stop...

Writer's Note: The daily selections of the three Heroes and three Goats are based solely on the top three and bottom three WPA scores for the game. The selections are not based on my subjective opinion.

THE THREE HEROES:

  • Superhero - Luis Valbuena (.112). What's the best way to follow up a Billy Goat performance? Come back the next day as the Superhero.
  • Hero - Justin Ruggiano (.105). Also a nice two-hit day, just with slightly less impact on the game than Valbuena.
  • Sidekick - Mike Olt (.063). Can we get more pitchers to throw him belt-high fastballs? Because he seems to be good at hitting those.

THE THREE GOATS:

  • Billy Goat - Edwin Jackson (-.445). We've still got two more years of this, folks.
  • Goat - Nate Schierholtz (-.147). He looked like he got hosed on the double-play call in the eighth, but an 0-for-4 day would have probably kept him on the podium even if he was safe there.
  • Kid - Junior Lake (-.090). Basically Mike Olt without the homer.

Valbuena rebounds nicely after Friday's performance, while Jackson continues to do what he does best.
