Cubs Heroes and Goats: Game 55

Somewhere, Matt Garza is critiquing the form on this pie shot. - Jeffrey Phelps

Winning 201: Take advantage of a bad, gassed bullpen.

Okay, so how many people had Nate Schierholtz and Chris Coghlan as the top two heroes of the game on their scorecards at home? Anyone? Anyone?...

THE THREE HEROES:

  • Superhero - Nate Schierholtz (.323). What a difference a walk-off winner makes; the game-ending single was worth .397 all by itself.
  • Hero - Chris Coghlan (.259). His first home run since May 28 of last year.
  • SidekickHector Rondon (.134). The double-play ball in the ninth was pretty huge.

THE THREE GOATS:

  • Big Goat - Junior Lake (-.122). Just throw him low-and-away junk and watch him flail madly.
  • Goat / Kid tie - Starlin Castro and Luis Valbuena (-.093). Valbuena makes the podium on the whiff in the ninth before Schierholtz won it. As for Castro, he's now hitting .146 since May 20.
