Cubs Heroes and Goats: Game 58

Honestly, I think Boni just likes the spotlight. - Jonathan Daniel

The Hammel and Rizzo shows roll on, and the Cubs extend their winning streak to four.

It bears mentioning: What you won't see on the Hero podium today are Brian Schlitter and Carlos Villanueva, both tied at .267 with two scoreless innings each. Huge tip of the hat to both of them for keeping the game going.

THE THREE HEROES:

  • Superhero - Jason Hammel (.449). Another gem today, despite no win to show for it.
  • Hero - Chris Coghlan (.312). Had J.T. Realmuto not dropped the ball on the hit-and-run play in the 12th, Coghlan might be off of the podium.
  • Sidekick Anthony Rizzo (.304). In my best Charley Steiner: Follow me! Follow me to freedom!!

THE THREE GOATS:

  • Big Goat - Hector Rondon (-.335). Dinked and dunked to death, and couldn't fight his way out of it.
  • Goat - Emilio Bonifacio (-.211). Absolutely brutal whiff in the 12th to end the inning.
  • Kid - Eli Whiteside (-.146). Maybe there's someone else in Iowa that we can try...
