You must spend money to make money - Plautus

originally posted on a Minor League Wrap.. but I'm extra mad and I miss Fanposts so..

First off… I am not a troll. I haven’t posted here very often and posts I have made have not been very substantial. I do read this site daily for the analysis and for the generally sympathetic banter. Now, I’ve had enough…

Too many times I have read things like ‘service clock’ and ‘financially irresponsible’ and I’m sick of it. The Chicago Cubs are a MAJOR MARKET franchise. They are a franchise boasting the THIRD HIGHEST ticket costs in the MLB. They charge $7.50 for a beer and $4.50 for a hot dog in a soggy bun. They are reaping in dough like a farmer harvesting wheat yet some of you here are still willing to eat this sh!t sandwich of an MLB team because bringing up Kris Bryant or any other prospect would mean he might be a FA in 2019 instead of 2020… STOP IT!

Jim Hendry was a mess of a GM.. Trading away great farm pieces many times for the likes of Matt Garza, signing Milton F’n Bradley.. etc. However, he was not a terrible GM because he brought up Starlin Castro too early. Castro came up and immediately had an impact on the ball club and the amount of asses in seats willing to pay to see them. Did he become a FA too soon that left the Cubs? No. He’s signed through 2020 at a reasonable contract. Sky not falling…

This team sucks. It has sucked and will continue to suck until we stop whining about spending more money 5 years or 6 years from now. I am not talking about shelling out Alfonso Soriano contracts to anything that bats about .250.. I’m talking about bringing up kids who have earned it. If they earn it at the MLB level too.. PAY THEM. They’ll have proved it for 4+ years and become the type of players fan’s want to come and see.

The Chicago Cubs won't be seeing any of my money until they AT LEAST show they are willing to spend some.... IN FIVE DAMN YEARS.
