The Pacific Coast League All-Stars will take on the International League All-Stars tonight in the Triple-A All-Star Game in Durham, NC. Three members of the Iowa Cubs have been selected to play in the game: pitchers Kyle Hendricks Blake Parker and Tsuyoshi Wada. In addition, Arismendy Alcantara was named to the team, but will miss the festivities because he's still in the major leagues.
You can watch the game starting at 6 p.m. Chicago time on the MLB Network.
The starting lineup for the Pacific Coast League is:
Paulo Orlando CF, Joc Pederson RF, Chris Taylor SS, Mike Jacobs 1B, Francisco Peña C, Allan Dykstra DH, Nick Franklin 2B, Shane Peterson LF, Gabriel Noriega 3B. Elih Villanueava SP
For the International League, their starters are:
Ezequiel Carrera CF, Jose Pirela 2B, Steven Souza RF, Jesus Aguilar 1B, Wilson Betemit DH, Mikie Mahtook LF, Phillip Gooselin, 3B, Jhonatan Solano C, Ivan DeJesus, SS. Liam Hendriks SP
I don't know whether it will be a good game or not, but it's the only game on TV tonight. Also, it's not being broadcast by Fox, so you know it will be more enjoyable to watch than last night's telecast. Paul Severino will handle play-by-play with Darryl Hamilton as the in-game analyst. Joining them will be John Manuel, the editor-in-chief of Baseball America. Sam Ryan will be the on-field reporter.
Perhaps this is the year our Pacific Coast League heroes will finally teach a lesson to those dastardly International Leaguers.
Discuss amongst yourselves.
