So to sum up the major OF shift: Jorge Soler to Iowa, Albert Almora to Tennessee, Jacob Hannemann to Daytona, Jeffrey Baez to Kane County and Charcer Burks to Boise.
Iowa Cubs
The Iowa Cubs zipped past the New Orleans Zephyrs (Marlins), 13-4.
Starting pitcher Dae-Eun Rhee allowed only one unearned run over six innings as he got his first career Triple-A win. Rhee allowed an infield single in the first inning, which was the only hit he allowed. He struck out three and walked two.
First baseman Lars Anderson was 2 for 4 with a two-run home run in the seventh inning, his fourth of the season. Anderson scored twice. For his superior effort, he was demoted to Tennessee after the game. (Or just to make room for Mike Olt.)
Second baseman Javier Baez was 2 for 3 with a double and two walks. He scored three times and drove in two. He also made two errors.
Right fielder Ryan Kalish was 2 for 4 with a triple and three RBI. Center fielder Matt Szczur went 2 for 5 and scored once.
Tennessee Smokies
The Tennessee Smokies burned the Mississippi Braves, 6-3.
Eduardo Figueroa allowed one run on four hits over five innings as he got his first win for the Smokies this season. (He also had one win with Iowa.) Figueroa walked two and struck out one.
Zach Cates pitched the ninth inning and got his second save and first for the Smokies. Cates did not allow a run or a hit, but he did allow a leadoff walk. Cates struck out one.
Third baseman Christian Villanueva went 2 for 5 with a two-run double in the seventh inning.
Second baseman Stephen Bruno was 2 for 5 with a triple and two RBI. He scored once.
Daytona Cubs
The Daytona Cubs grounded the Palm Beach Cardinals, 6-2.
Rob Zastryzny was very strong tonight, tossing six scoreless innings. He allowed three hits. He walked three and struck out three.
Justin Amlung pitched the final three innings for the save. Amlung allowed two runs on five hits. He walked two ands struck out five.
First baseman Dan Vogelbach hit solo home runs in the second and third innings, the first two times he came to the plate. Vogelbach was 2 for 5 and now has 11 home runs this year.
Second baseman Gioskar Amaya was 2 for 5.
Kane County Cougars
The Kane County Cougars clipped the wings of the South Bend Silver Hawks (Diamondbacks), 5-2.
Duane Underwood allowed solo home runs to catcher Michael Perez in the second and fifth innings, and that's pretty much all he gave up. Underwood pitched five innings and allowed two runs on three hits. He struck out seven and walked only two.
Jose Arias pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his third save. Arias did not allow a hit, although he did issue a one-out walk. He struck out the next two batters to end the game.
DH Cael Brockmeyer doubled twice in a 2 for 4 game. He scored one run.
Right fielder Kevin Brown was 3 for 4 with two RBI.
Boise Hawks
