Is this the beginning of the end?
A beginning to the end of mediocrity?
A beginning to the end of, "wait till next year!"?
A beginning to the end of a 106 year World Series drought?
A beginning to the end of signing free-agents past their prime to bloated contract (though..I think that's already ended)?
A beginning to the end of Cardinals fans gloating and participating in all-around douchebaggery?
Is this the first tip-toe in the direction the franchise is moving? It sure feels that way to me. It's almost like the captains who have been steering this ship have finally righted the old girl and are now turning it towards friendlier water and sunnier shores.
Pardon my literary and airy musings...I am just excited.
We've been talking about these prospects for so long and debating if and when they should come up. Well, here one is. TODAY!!
I know it's just a 2 day roster fill in....and that is why it is a tip-toe and not a full step. But admit...a crack in the cave is letting some light shine through and I couldn't be happier.
Good luck to Arismendy Alcantara.
Good luck to the Chicago Cubs.
And good luck to all of us as fans. We've been through a lot of crap over the years...maybe this is something tangible to hold on to and use a marker for when the bad went away and the good started happening.
