A quick note for my H & G readers: I will be out of town on Friday and Saturday, so there will not be a Heroes and Goats recap for those two games. I'll be back on Sunday with the normal recap plus a summary of the top podium spots for the Friday and Saturday games.

Writer's Note: The daily selections of the three Heroes and three Goats are based solely on the top three and bottom three WPA scores for the game. The selections are not based on my subjective opinion.
THE THREE HEROES:
- Superhero - Jake Arrieta (.341). Just another day at the office for Jake.
- Hero - Anthony Rizzo (.164). Pulled off the hat trick of ways of reaching first base: single, walk, and beanball to the elbow.
- Sidekick - Brian Schlitter (.072). Takes the final spot by a nose with a perfect eighth inning.
THE THREE GOATS:
- Billy Goat - Junior Lake (-.067). Silver Lining: He had a hit. Sure, he also had the 6-4-3 double play, but he had a hit.
- Goat - Starlin Castro (-.052). And this is with the game-tying bases-loaded walk.
- Kid - Justin Ruggiano (-.047). A rather uneventful 0-for-2 day, and the sac fly in the sixth didn't sway the numbers much for him.
UPDATED RANKINGS THROUGH GAME 107 (Changes in Bold, Notations Below):
x - Player not on 25-man roster.
y - Player not on 40-man roster.
z - Player no longer with Cubs.
