MESA, Arizona -- I decided to head over to the practice fields at the Cubs' spring-training complex again Thursday morning to see what was going on.
The first thing that was going on was a completely full parking lot -- the one adjacent to the back fields. Not a single space available. Had to drive back over to the other side of the fields and park in a distant lot and walk back. Yeah, yeah, I know, #firstworldproblems. If anything, there were more people watching Thursday's second workout day than were on hand for the first workout day Wednesday.
More and different drills were happening on a brilliantly sunny morning, as you can see from photo 4 (the daily schedule, as I noted yesterday, a nice touch from the Cubs). The photos and videos here are from the last three sessions, "Individual Defense," "Team Fundamental," and "Batting Practice."
Players were in and out of the batter's box quite frequently during BP so it really isn't possible to say how anyone's actually doing, this early in the spring. That'll wait till later in the workout week, and especially once games start.
Here, then, are nine more short videos to give you a flavor of what goes on at these practices, along with the photos above.
