Lin Castro

I need some help from some of you, Al, Danny, Josh anyone, but if you're Theo and co. You've got to have Castro highest on the trading block of the Shortstops. Right? To me Castro kills us, he has good numbers through stretches, and for his career, but he doesn't contribute to wins as consistently as he hurts his team with untimely Ks, pop outs, and hitting into double plays , and bad defensive play. I've seen articles in the media lately, (which I know is to get reaction or start discussion) talking about trading Baez? That would be silly to me, I'm sorry Castro is as good as he's going to be, which isn't better than Russell defensively and yes offensively. Baez had his struggles, but why not see if he struggles with Maddon, Martinez, and Mallee? I understand why he's in AAA right now, but I mean surely he's in the plans to come up soon to play somewhere, 3rd and move Kris to LF? or spell Russell? Or hell, spell CASTRO??? I feel pretty sure it wouldn't hurt us, and may be an upgrade if you had Russell at SS and Baez 2B tonight!

Back to Castro, I have no stats to really prove this, but I have watched enough of his career to know nobody's going to come up with anything to prove he is clutch, because he's not, he is not close. Defensively or Offensively. I attended some of this last Cubs series in St. Louis, he was awful defensively in the day game, making a ridiculous throw to right field practically throwing to 1B, rather than eating a Heyward ground ball. 2-0 at the end of that inning. 2 innings later, Heyward up again, chopper to the 2nd base side of the bag he cuts off Russell and boots it? For the second time in the series? I don't get why he's at Shortstop over Addison anyway. (Whole other story, or rant) Why would you cut that guy off? Heyward gets on. 4-0 after that inning. Castro leads off the top of the 5th, pops up on a pitch 5 feet outside that's he trying to pull. That's really what I've come to expect, when he's bad it's bad. Amateur looking approach at the plate. His hits, home runs, and defensive plays come in no pressure situations. Like this particular game, 5-0, late in a game out of hand, he drives in a run with a single after a Soler double, rounds first base and applauds himself. Also I may being picky, but the mimicking behind Bryant was the most bush league thing I've seen, maybe because it was in person, but I thought that was ridiculous and so did the crowd, from what I could see the players weren't impressed either, no one seemed to be laughing.

I want winners, not above average stat columns. We've had enough time to evaluate Castro, he's not the star we thought, if we miss, lets miss on one of the prospects we've been waiting on why'll we've had to watch the Castro led Cubs for 3 years. If there's anyone who still wants him, I'd be fine with seeing us spending 2015 with a Baez, Russell, Alcantara rotation up the middle, and not have to continue to watch Castro pile up errors that cost us run after run in tight games, and poor plate approach at a time we need a man on, a man moved, over and not a big leg kick and swing at a pitch he's never been able to do anything with, hence why the pitch was thrown there. I see no star in Castro. Just my humble opinion. Would love to eat crow.
